| Module content | This module focuses on school organisation. If schools are in fact organisations, we need to know what the term means and how organisations are typically managed. The module deals with the nature and purpose of organisations, the way in which organisations have changed during the past century and the reasons for these changes. The module examines various models of organisational structure and relates them to schools and education: Temple, Factory and Town Meeting. The module also deconstructs the concept of ‘learning organisation’ and asks students to reflect critically on schools as they know them. |
